Lawyer and entertainment consultant Ayo Shonaiya has criticized Deji Adeyanju, counsel to controversial singer Speed Darlington, for allegedly confusing the role of a lawyer with that of an activist. Shonaiya made this remark in response to Adeyanju's claim that Burna Boy orchestrated the re-arrest of Speed Darlington and was using the police to harass him.

Reacting to Adeyanju’s tweet, Shonaiya stated: "I believe Deji Adeyanju is mixing up being a lawyer with being an activist. A plaintiff taking legal action against someone for defamation is not harassment or oppression.

If your client continues the same behavior that led to their initial arrest, especially while on bail, they will inevitably get rearrested. It’s that simple. His clients don’t seem to understand the difference between defamatory statements and freedom of speech and it seems like he doesn’t either.”
