Manchester United are reportedly open to receiving offers for Marcus Rashford next month.
Manchester United are reportedly open to considering offers for Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window. The 27-year-old forward, who has been with United since breaking into the first team at 18 in 2016, has scored 138 goals for the club. However, after an impressive 2022-23 season in which he netted 30 goals and secured a lucrative five-year contract worth £325,000 per week, Rashford has struggled to maintain that form. He managed only eight goals in the 2023-24 season and has scored four times in the Premier League so far this season.
According to Sky Sports Germany, United are willing to sell Rashford, despite his recent improvement under manager Amorim, which has seen him score three goals in two Premier League starts. The club, however, does not consider him an indispensable player. The Telegraph has also reported concerns within the club regarding Rashford’s off-field lifestyle, suggesting a lack of focus and multiple distractions may be affecting his performance on the pitch.
United are said to be open to offers for Rashford in January, with the possibility of a summer departure also under consideration. His high salary, as one of the club’s top earners, is seen as a factor that could improve United’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) position if he were to leave. This, in turn, would provide greater flexibility in the transfer market, especially as Rashford’s contract runs until 2028.
The FFP considerations are particularly relevant as part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe implements cost-cutting measures, and the club recently incurred around £15 million in compensation costs following the dismissal of former manager Erik ten Hag.
