Teen Shot with BB Gun at Hamilton School

Teen Shot with BB Gun at Hamilton School

A concerning incident at a continuing education centre in Ontario has parents and students on edge here's a breakdown of what happened.

A quiet Tuesday morning at a Hamilton, Ontario continuing education centre turned frightening when a 14-year-old student was shot in the face with a BB gun.

Police were called to St. Charles Adult & Continuing Education Centre at around 10:50 a.m. after reports of the shooting came in. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.

The injured teen was transported to hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly detailed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The incident triggered an immediate lockdown at St. Charles, while a nearby Catholic elementary school was placed under a hold-and-secure order as a precaution.

Both measures were lifted by approximately 12:30 p.m., once police determined there was no ongoing threat to the surrounding community.

Several key questions remain unanswered:

· Who is the suspect? Police have not released a description or confirmed whether the suspect is also a student.

· What was the motive? Authorities haven't commented on what led up to the shooting.

· What charges could follow? No arrests have been announced, and it's unclear what legal consequences the suspect may face.

This incident adds to growing concerns about safety in Canadian schools and notably, it happened at an adult continuing education centre, a setting that rarely makes headlines for this kind of violence.

It's also a reminder that BB guns, while sometimes treated as toys, can cause serious harm particularly when fired at someone's face.

Hamilton police say the investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities.
