Fear of War Again: Residents Flee Ethiopia’s Tigray

Residents of the Tigray Region are beginning to flee their homes as fears grow that the area could slide back into conflict.

Families in several communities have started moving toward safer towns, including Mekelle, amid rising tensions linked to factions of the Tigray People's Liberation Front.

The region is still recovering from the brutal war that erupted in 2020 between the TPLF and the government of Ethiopia, which displaced millions and left communities struggling with food shortages and damaged infrastructure.

Aid groups warn that even the threat of renewed violence could trigger another humanitarian crisis if people continue to flee.

Local leaders are now calling for urgent dialogue to prevent the fragile peace from collapsing and plunging Tigray back into war.
