Diddy's lawyers request bail again, say similar defendants were released
Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is once again seeking to secure his release from jail while awaiting trial, filing a new bail motion on Friday, November 9. The motion highlights similar cases in which defendants facing comparable charges were granted bail, despite Diddy’s previous bail requests being denied.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Diddy’s legal team is proposing a substantial bail package, including a $50 million bond and continuous 24/7 surveillance to prevent flight or witness tampering ahead of his trial.
This motion follows his failed bail attempts in September, when his prior requests were denied twice. His lawyers argue that other defendants facing similar charges were granted bail with much smaller bond amounts. For example, a CEO accused of sex trafficking and witness intimidation was granted bail with bonds set at $10 million and $500K, respectively—far less than the $50 million bond Diddy is offering.
Despite these arguments, Diddy remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, after a judge determined that the government had shown he posed a danger. He faces federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution, with his trial scheduled for May 2024.
