Moment passenger tries to open emergency exit door sparking panic on flight to South Korea
A passenger on a flight to South Korea caused a scare by attempting to open the plane’s emergency door mid-flight, with dramatic footage showing flight attendants restraining him. The unnamed man reportedly sat in a crew seat without permission on Korean Air flight KE658 from Bangkok, Thailand, to Incheon, South Korea, on November 7. When a flight attendant asked him to move, he allegedly threatened her, despite being warned he might be violating Korea's Aviation Security Act.
Video footage captures the tense moment as flight attendants rushed to stop the man as he grasped the door latch, attempting to open it. The crew managed to restrain the aggressive man and moved him to a different area of the plane to calm down. The Airbus A330-300, carrying 238 passengers, landed on schedule at Incheon International Airport in Seoul around 4:45 a.m.
Upon landing, the man was handed over to the Incheon International Airport Police for further investigation. Korean Air released a statement, saying, "The incident was managed according to our established security protocols, prioritizing passenger safety and operational integrity. While the situation was contained, we will cooperate with authorities in the investigation. Korean Air has a zero-tolerance policy for actions that threaten aviation safety and will respond decisively to such incidents."
