Grammy-winning producer and artist Pharrell has publicly shared his thoughts on Drake purchasing his old jewelry and then hinting at melting it down. In an interview with GG magazine on November 13, Pharrell, who is now the men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton, discussed his 2022 decision to auction off several pieces from his jewelry collection. “You don’t realize how much everything you own weighs on you until it’s gone,” he explained. “When you let it go, you feel free.”

When asked about Drake's comments on melting down the jewelry and the line, “Come get his legacy out my house,” Pharrell responded, “It didn’t [strike me].” Pharrell added that, despite everything, Drake is “a fan of music and its history,” acknowledging that his jewelry is part of that legacy.

The interviewer’s question referenced Drake’s verse in Travis Scott’s 2023 track, “Meltdown,” where Drake reignited his feud with Pusha T. In the verse, Drake raps: “I melt down the chains that I bought from yo boss/ Give a f*** about all of that heritage.” He also took aim at the Louis Vuitton legacy following Virgil Abloh’s passing, with lines such as, “Since V[irgil] not around, the members done hung up the Louis.”

Drake’s $3.3 million jewelry purchase included Pharrell's iconic pieces like a 14K three-tone N.E.R.D. pendant, a white gold brain pendant, and a skateboard pendant, which he showcased in his “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” video.
