Nigeria's oldest Catholic priest, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas Oleghe, has passed away at the age of 104. The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Gabriel Dunia, announced in a statement that Oleghe died at around 2:30 am on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

The statement read: “With gratitude to God for a life well lived, I announce the passing of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas Oleghe, the oldest Catholic priest in Nigeria, to eternal glory at approximately 2:30 am this morning, November 24, 2024.

"He belonged to the Diocese of Auchi and passed away at the age of 104. May his kind and gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen." It was further disclosed that his funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
