Super Falcons arrive Angers for friendly with France
The Super Falcons, Nigeria's nine-time African champions, arrived in Angers, France, on Wednesday ahead of their highly anticipated international friendly against Les Bleues on Saturday. This will be the second friendly between the two teams, with the first meeting taking place on April 6, 2018, when the Falcons suffered an 8-0 defeat at Stade Marie-Marvingt in Le Mans.
Only two players from that squad—goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays in France, and Mexico-based defender Osinachi Ohale—are part of the current team. In past FIFA World Cup encounters, the Falcons narrowly lost to Les Bleues, falling by a single goal in Germany in 2011 and again at Roazhon Park during the 2019 tournament in France.
The friendly match aligns with the NFF’s efforts to strengthen the team following a disappointing performance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France earlier this year.
