Manchester City midfielder Rodri reportedly suffered a major knee injury that could make him miss the rest of the season. Reports from ESPN and the Athletic on Monday has claimed that the Spain international has injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and could well be out for the remainder of the campaign in what would constitute a major blow to City’s title hopes this term. Rodri limped off during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday having only just returned to Pep Guardiola’s side following his summer exertions at EURO 2024. The Premier League champions look like they will have to get used to playing without the Ballon d’Or contender though with several outlets claiming that he is likely to be out for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign. Rodri has been invaluable to City over the past few seasons with the club losing all three of their Premier League games without the midfielder last term. The 28-year-old would eventually lose in the FA Cup final to Manchester United in May, which was his first defeat in 75 matches for the Etihad outfit. Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly sustained a serious knee injury, potentially sidelining him for the rest of the season. According to ESPN and The Athletic, the Spanish international has torn his right knee's anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a setback that could significantly weaken City's title defense. The injury occurred during City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal, marking his return to the team after playing in EURO 2024 over the summer. With multiple reports indicating that Rodri could miss the entire 2024/25 campaign, City will need to adapt without one of their key players. His absence will be deeply felt, as City struggled in the few games he missed last season, losing all three Premier League matches without him. Rodri's influence on the team has been immense, with the FA Cup final loss to Manchester United in May being his first defeat in 75 matches for the club.
