Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially launched the commercial operations of the Lagos Red Line rail, with the first trip running from Oyingbo Station to Agbado.

The Lagos Red Line rail service from Oyingbo to Agbado has officially commenced (photos/videos). The inaugural journey, which took place at 5:20 PM on Tuesday, October 16, marks the first time a train has been used for transport in Lagos. This follows seven months after the rail infrastructure was completed and commissioned.

Speaking about the development, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that this is the second rail system to become operational in the state within two years.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night, Sanwo-Olu shared: "Today is a historic moment in our quest for a more connected Lagos! At exactly 5:20 PM, the Lagos Red Line Rail departed from Platform 2 at Oyingbo Station, heading towards Agbado. This inaugural trip represents a new chapter in public transportation for our state.
