Four young individuals were killed in an attack by gunmen at a mining site in Butura, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State. The attack took place on Friday night around 9 pm. Sabastine Magit, President of the Butura Youth Movement, reported that the victims were working at the site when gunmen, speaking the Fulani language, opened fire, killing four people instantly and injuring five others.

Magit identified the deceased as Bwefuk Musa, 21; Klingshak Dickson, 21; Promise Joshua, 20; and Nyam Abaka, 20. In a statement on Saturday, October 12, Magit condemned the unprovoked attack, stating that armed terrorists targeted innocent youths at a mining site near the villages of Kuba and Maikatako in Bokkos LGA.

He also noted that this attack occurred just four days after another incident in the village of Wumat, where five family members, including a pregnant woman, were killed. Magit added that the attackers escaped before military personnel nearby could respond. This incident is part of a disturbing trend, with over 20 Butura community members reportedly killed by suspected Fulani attackers in the past month.

The injured are receiving medical care, and local authorities and security forces have been notified, with tensions still running high in the area following the attack.
