The newly elected Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has removed the name of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the council’s administrative building.

Wike, who hails from Rumuepirikom in Obio Akpor and is a former chairman of the local council, had his name prominently displayed on the administrative block of the council secretariat.

According to Ihunwo, Wike has caused significant issues for the local government, leading him to replace Wike's name with that of the late Obi Wali, a former politician and activist in the state.

Ihunwo shared a video of the name change on X, stating, "We have replaced Wike's name on the administrative block of Obio/Akpor Council with that of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI."

Ihunwo, along with 22 other newly elected local government chairpersons, was recently sworn in by the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following the local council elections.
