Spanish football club Real Madrid reportedly held an emergency meeting on Monday night, October 14, following accusations of rape and sexual harassment against their star player, Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe, who has denied the allegations, was in Sweden from Wednesday to Friday last week with friends, staying at the Bank Hotel in central Stockholm. On Monday, Mbappe condemned a report from Aftonbladet as 'fake news' concerning an alleged rape that took place at the hotel on Thursday night.

However, Swedish newspaper Expressen later claimed that it was Mbappe who was under police investigation after allegations were made against the Real Madrid forward.

French journalist Romain Molina reported that Real Madrid held a crisis meeting regarding the situation on Monday evening. Real Madrid is set to face Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday, but it is unclear whether Mbappe will participate. The club has not yet made any public statements about the matter.

Mbappe's representatives told AFP in a statement: "Today, a new malicious rumor is spreading online from the Swedish media Aftonbladet. These accusations are entirely false and irresponsible, and their dissemination is unacceptable. To stop this systematic defamation of Kylian Mbappe’s character, all legal actions will be taken to restore the truth and pursue anyone responsible for the moral harassment and defamatory treatment Mbappe has repeatedly faced."

According to Aftonbladet, investigators and a forensic unit were at the alleged crime scene on Monday. The report also mentioned that the alarm was raised after the woman sought medical attention at a local hospital.
